If Downie wasn't going to make the Flyers anyways, what is the NHL going to do? They can enforce the suspension in the AHL, but it wouldn't be the same. So I wonder if they will uphold the suspension until he makes the Flyers.
It is about time that the league has made some strides into taking head shots out of the game.

His 20 game suspension doesn't start untill he is named to the Flyers roster.

That's kind of awkward, isn't it.....basically, he can't be an emergency call-up so he's likely not going to see any nhl time until next season....maybe.
I thought the hit was completely reckless and the suspension deserved, but I would've thought that the Flyers would 'back' their guy, so-to-speak, and leave him on the roster to fulfill his suspension....it really doesn't affect them, he would just be sitting in the press box (which he might have been doing anyway).
