Darcy Tucker hits like that every single time he hits somebody... he just hasn't crushed anybody like Downie did... Don't you think it's a little fishy when the same guy is the recipient of "questionable" hits allll the freakin time... Maybe he needs to learn how to skate with his head up.

Well, when Pronger elbowed McAmmond, Dean's head was up, additionally he didn't have posession of the puck. The later could (arguably) be applied to the Downie hit. Just bad luck, I say.

Maybe he needs to learn how to skate with his head up. the pronger hit was a dirty hit and you could not fault mcammond one bit. in this case, yes, you should have your head up, BUT this does not mean that it's ok to run at a guy from the far blueline down to your own goal line, launch yourself in the air like a projectile at the other guy's head. downie's not a centreman so he was clearly not playing his position. he also was the victim of a questionable hit just prior to it so he was looking for a little revenge. the guy has a track record that tells us he's not a clean tough player. this is nearly the same thing that happened to jason williams when he was hit by raffi torres. it happens a lot but that doesn't make it right. if you're going after the head, then you should be punished. how many guys have to get concussions before someone figures out that hitting people in the head with an elbow or a shoulder is unacceptable. the players association needs to take some ownership in this.

So because Mcammond had his head down it's Downie's fault he's injured? I find it funny when the hitter is given all the blame for everything.... Dean McAmmond has knack for getting injured becuase of the way he plays. Taking nothing away from him he always gives 110%, however he puts so much energy into playing hard that he leave himself open for injury. Much like Eric Lindros he's to focused on what he's doing and not what the other 9 people on the ice are doing.

I am in no way condoning the actions of Downie... I am merely saying, had McAmmond been head up and paying attention it could easily have avoided the whole situation. Yes I am aware that the situation could also have been avoided had Downie not hit him. But then on the other hand the way McAmmond was positioned, and the way he wasn't paying attention he could have easily been knocked loopy by a clean hit.
