Ok guys, put your hockey wisdom to use and take a guess as to who will win the Stanley Cup this season........It's pretty tough considering the the NHL analysts from last year all had it wrong and for the most part didn't even predict that Carolina would make the playoffs.

If I had to pick two teams that will would stand the best chance of going to the finals it would be San Jose and Anaheim. Unfortunately, only one team can win the cup so I have to go with San Jose. I just think that they have a really deep set of forwards who will only get better this season. My only concern for this club is the lack of a true #1 d-man. I think this could be their year.

ANy team with Niedermayer and Pronger as their 1-2 defense should win something.... and their youth players are amazing. Perry, Getzlaf, Penner...

I think the value/importance of high-caliber defensemen is somewhat overrated. If there is one deciding factor- to me it is team chemistry and team play. So far- it is hard to say who's got it and who doesn't. Minensota's top line looked great so far; the Slovaks seem to be clicking. With added firepower and steady defense in place, the Wild might surpirse a few teams. Also, flying under the radar seems to be the topic the last few years. I say Anaheim with their two big guns on D have a lot of pressure to perform.

I dont think the Ducks have enough offense to get them through the post season. I'm taking Calgary for the cup. I'm also taking the Sabres from the east, but d**n the Devils looked good (with the excepion of the 1st period vs Dallas).

Sabres and Rangers scare me in the east, I say Sabres win the east.
Minnesota and Calgary from the west.
Sabres win the cup.

I chose Buffalo against Dallas. Buffalo is really good this year. They have 2 really good goaltender and have really fast player in Brière,Drury, Afinogenov, Pominvile, etc.. I don't why i chose Dallas but I have a feeling they will come back with a good season after the disapointment of last year. That was my predictions for this year.

Buffalo could have actually been the team to go to the Stanley cup last season. When they faced off against the Hurricanes they had multiple injuries that really hurt their club, especially on the blueline. It's entirely possible that if their blueline was intact, they may have beaten Carolina.......it's amazing how quick they look this season.......probably have something to prove!
