Pronger was just traded to Anaheim for a roster player, a non-roster player and several draft choices.
It's awaiting confirmation that the deal works out to be:
To Anaheim:
Chris Pronger
To Edmonton:
Joffrey Lupul Ladislav Smid 1st rounder in 2007 2nd rounder in 2007 *conditional draft choice* 1st rounder in 2008 if Anaheim makes the finals
Not a bad return, Anaheim has the youth to afford giving up the draft picks, and Pronger/Niedermeyer on the same team is just downright scary.

As an Oiler fan, I was shocked to hear that Pronger wanted out, but a guy has to do what he has to do when it comes to family. Family is more important than anything. I know alot of Oiler fans are bitter that he "jumped ship" and left the Oilers, but I don't think they realize what is more important. Now looking how the Oilers acquired Prongs and what the Oilers got in return... To Edmonton: Chris Pronger To St. Louis: Jeff Woywitka Doug Lynch Eric Brewer Then... To Edmonton: Joffery Lupol Ladislav Smid 1st Round Pick in 2007 2nd Round Pick in 2008 Conditional 1st in 2008 (if Ducks makes the finals) Well as an Oiler fan, I am not counting the 1st in 2008 because there is no way that the Ducks are getting to the Finals next year. All in all, I am happy with what the Oilers got in return, Lupol is a local boy and is looking forward to playing in Edmonton. I can't wait to see him play with Hemsky.

I wouldn't count out Anaheim making the finals, they're blue line is downright scary with Pronger/Niedermeyer. They have a capable goaltender in either Bryzgalov or Giguere, and one of the two could be moved for an impact player.
Getzlaf is a stud, Perry and Penner should play extremely well and all this is behind Selanne/MacDonald.
They have an awesome team.

Ya Seriously don't underestimate the Ducks. They almost made the finals this year and if you followed the Ducks at all then you would know that the ducks have Bobby Ryan probably coming in this season who is a 8.5 if you look on hockeys future website. Their young players Perry, Getzlaf and Penner are only going to get better. Mcdonald and Selanne are playing awsome together especially the 2nd half of the season. Where the Ducks played very well making it to the conf. finals. Now the Ducks have pronger along with niedermeyer arguably the 2 best d-men in the league and they have 2 capeable goalies. I know your an Oiler fan and your probably a bit mad that he left but even you can admit that pronger is an outstanding defence men and will help the ducks be a cup contender this season.

I am in the minority that is mad at Pronger leaving. Family comes before anything else.
I have been a Pronger fan since he came into the league with Hartford. And to me he is the best 2-way dman in the league. I would actually rate him #1 overall out of all the dmen in the league. Yes that does include Niedermayer and Lidstrom.
I am happy with the return they got in Pronger as Lupol is coming home and Smid will be in an Oilers jersey come next season.
But, because you have the best dman in Pronger and the 2nd/3rd in Niedermayer, it doesn't mean a Stanley Cup. Remember the Rangers had all the talent in the world and still couldn't put it together to win the Cup.

well obviously. But the Ducks are different then the rangers. Plus they recently almost made the finals. I also think that the Ducks can only get better from this trade. If you think about it they really didn't lose much because of all the youth they have. I think this trade made the ducks a favourite. You can also look at it this way. look at some of the cups stevens and niedermayer won. Or what about chelios and Lindstrom. Pronger and Niedermayer will be hard for any team to get by.

Let's just wait and see how well they mesh when the season starts, then make predictions.....

Having Pronger on their roster is a real bonus for Anaheim, especially since they are almost guaranteed to have at least Pronger and/or Neidermayer on the ice during all critical moments of the game. This is going to be a team that will be a pleasure to watch next season with all of the young talent they have.
