The Calder Trophy is awarded to the player judged to be the most proficient in his first year of competition in the NHA. The winner is selected by the GM's of the National Hockey Association.
Alex Goligoski - 80 games played, 16 goals, 39 assists, 55 points, 22 penalty minutes On a very solid Bandits squad, Goligoski fit right in and carried the poise of a veteran defender. With 55 points, Goligoski was second to Chris Campoli in that department.
Loui Eriksson - 82 games played, 26 goals, 46 assists, 72 points, 336 shots Eriksson displayed the type of high-end skill that the Bulldogs covet in their players. Leading all rookies in scoring with 72 points while receiving top-end minutes, Eriksson would seem to be a superstar in the making.
Bryan Little - 73 games played, 21 goals, 37 assists, 58 points, +14 Playing on the second line with two veteran players in Shane Doan and Daymond Langkow, Bryan Little developed nicely this year and took advantage of his teachings. With fifty-eight points and a plus fourteen rating, Little has the makings of a complete player.
Jaroslav Halak - 21-23-3 record, .897 SV%, 3.24 GAA, 3 shutouts Halak did not display the type of stats that one usually associates with a Calder Trophy season. However, with fifty games to his name this past season on a very young and inexperienced team, Halak displayed the type of calm demeanor that could make him a top goalie in the NHA for years to come.
