I have been thinking about this, but it is kind of a lot of work for me to do myself in the short time available (and besides, other GM's opinions are good to hear too).
Here is the idea:
I was thinking it would be neat to have a brief team analysis (of your own team or, even better, of someone else's team) for a prelude to the playoffs. It would allow GMs to get a little bit involved without much work at all (and it's cool to read other people's stuff). It doesn't matter if your team is headed to the post-season or not, sometimes the best analysts are the ones that have nothing at stake. ;D
Anyway, I was thinking of a framework something like this:
Team: Offense: Defense: Special Teams: Goaltending: Intangibles: Player(s) to Watch: Analysis (How they win and/or can be beaten):

Good idea.
First come first served.
Post here that you're going to do a team and I'll keep track in the main post.

I'd need to see a few examples first, but I could see it becoming a great idea, we could also do series previews like in the NHL, with top player and goaltender comparisons.

Can anyone post a playoff preview? Or is this something for only teams in the playoffs?

Anyone can post about any team(s) you like.
I love reading other GMs analyses (and I'm sure you all get tired of mine all the time).

I'd like to encourage everyone to get involved in the playoff analysis and predictions. This is where the fun really begins.

The short and sweet of my preview is a prediction that the Eagles and Vampyres will battle in the finals.

I've predicted the first round, future ones shouldn't take me as long. I used the last 10 games streak to guestimate the final few games of everyone's regular season, then calculated the playoff matches using team records vs. the other team and such.
Key first round headlines - Bagnato Matchup #1, Warriors stretched to 7, and 2 Rivalry series.
Canadian Conference:
(1) Vampyres 4 vs. (8) Remparts 1 (2) Hitmen 4 vs. (7) Gladiators 2 (3) Storm 4 vs. (6) Canucks 3 (4) Ice Dragons 4 vs. (5) Wildcats 3
American Conference
(1) Warriors 4 vs. (8) Bulldogs 3 (2) Muskies 3 vs. (7) Phantoms 4 (R) (3) Eagles 4 vs. (6) Panthers 3 (R) (4) Whalers 4 vs. (5) Purple Aces 3
Ill post the second round shortly.

I don't see any American Conference team beating any of the top 4 teams from the Canadian Conference but we will try

Final Post - The Finals:
Key Headlines - 2 Quick 5 gamers, Battle of the Bagnatos II, Stanley Cup Winner Announced!!!
Conference Finals:
(3) Storm 4 vs. (4) Ice Dragons 1 (1) Warriors 4 vs. (3) Eagles 1 (R)
STANLEY CUP FINALS
Manhattan WARRIORS vs. Summerside STORM
Warriors 2, Storm 4
PROJECTED STANLEY CUP CHAMPION SUMMERSIDE STORM!!!!
I know it looks kinda fishy, but that's just the way the percentages rolled, I was lucky the Ice Dragons knocked out the Vampyres, otherwise I'd be toast. See for yourself, the Warriors lost both games vs. the Storm, as did the Ice Dragons, and the Hitmen.
I'd be happy to show anyone my formula if interested.

Interesting statistical analysis (but any system with so many unknowns is probably still just as accurate as the proverbial monkey with a dartboard ). The real takeaway here is that its all about the matchups, and it appears that the Storm will breathe easier if our teams end up in separate brackets. ;D On the other hand, it would appear that I don't want to face the Ice Dragons, so I guess I should be rooting for the Roadrunners this week, eh Daniel.
