Since the message board has been pretty dead while we await for Mike and company to get the new simulator up and running, I thought I would post an article and try and get some activity going.
I am surprised by a few things in the NHL this season and thought I would share them with you.
1. Anze Kopitar and his 21 points (personal bias). What a great start to the season for this youngster. I guess Ryan Smyth has really helped out.
2. Detroit Red Wings sitting outside of the playoffs through first 9 games. I can't remember the last time they were on the outside looking in.
3. laughing stock Maple Leafs with 0 wins so far. Nice to see.
4. tons on injuries in the league and to key players. Guys like Mark Savard, Andrei Markov, Erik Cole, Sheldon Souray and Jason Arnott jump out at me.

You can't honestly tell me you find that the Leafs situation comes as a surprise; karma alone after making the ill-advised Kessel trade prior to the start of the season should have been an indicator that they would epic fail.

I think Craig Anderson's play has to be a surprise to everyone. Whether or not he will be able to keep it up is another discussion, but it's a great story none the less.

I don't think anyone saw del zotto leading rookies in points so far but the avalanche are the best story with Anderson and those young forwards

I think the injuries is the biggest thing so far... i cant get over how many legit SUPERSTARS have been hurt in some way or another... is this some conspiracy to make sure the league has control of the standings?
