I will now start accepting offers for 'unrestricted free agents'. I've updated the UFA list on the homepage for everyone to look over as well as the 'unassinged list'.
GM's are asked to send their offers to me through email and I will process and negotiate the offers on behalf of the players. Please send your contract proposals in a single email and please to not send those offers in a reply to these instructions. For the most part, the contract value will be the determining factor, but other factors will also come into play such as the chance to win a cup, playing time, role on team, rebuilding or not, etc. The deadline for free agent offers in this initial phase will be Wednesday, March 12 @ 11:59 p.m. Although Wednesday is the deadline for this 1st phase, the sooner I have your offers the quicker we can move through the process.
1. Teams are asked to submit no more then 5 offers for this initial phase. This simply means that every GM in the league may submit a max. of 5 contract offers to free agents. Once I have completed this initial phase, then I will allow teams to submit another 4 or 5 offers if they so choose. We will continue with this process until we either run out of free agents, or teams stop submitting contract offers to players.
2. Players from both the UFA list and 'unassigned list' must be given contract offers in order for them to negotiate with your team.
3. Contract offers can be no more then four years in length and a maximum of 8 million per season. Contract offers may also include such things as signing bonuses and no-trade clauses.
4. It will also be of great help to have teams make a pitch for the player they're offering a contract to. It will be of great benefit if teams lay out what role the player will take and where you see your team going in the future, etc...
5. I will be submitting my contract offers to another GM in the league (probably Mark of the Devils) so that they are kept on record by someone other then myself.
6. This free agency period should take about three weeks depending on the amount of negotiating I must do and the amount of offers that come in. After free agency is complete we will move on to the 12 game exhibition schedule.
7. I would also ask that teams start making a strong effort to get their RFA's under contract. Many teams have loads of players that need to be signed and it would be nice to get that out of the way before the exhibition season.
8. Finally, as was last season, I'd like to see every team ice a complete farm roster of approx. 24 players (more would be preferable).
9. Feel free to submit any questions you may have.
