Not to be insensitive or anything, but I could care less how the Russians are rated; in the end it doesn't matter because they are still no better than #2.

Yes I was serious...it has been a hot topic on local (Florida) sports talk radio....These guys down here know nothing about hockey...but at least they admit it.

Interesting side note.
I believe the US has made one more hockey appearance in the Winter Olympics than Canada has (21 appearances vs 20 for the Canucks); this was apparently due to a boycott of the '72 and '76 games by Canada over the Soviets using pros to play against our amateurs.

In communism there is no room for labels such as "amateur" and "professional" so in all technicallity they didn't do anything wrong. It was just Canada being the "Crosby" and taking their ball and going home. If the Canadian born hockey players felt so inclined to play they could have quit their jobs...

Another wierd observation about international tournaments we've seen Sid v. Ovi in... It's like they change roles completely. You watch the NHL and Ovechkin is the little kid who just loves what he is doing and gives 110% evey night, Crosby is the whiner who cries about everything and anything somebody will listen to him about. Then you get to the Olympics (or World Jrs) and all the sudden Crosby is the mild mannered, confident leader, and Oveckin is the whiney little kid who just wants to win.
