I think maybe we should do at least two sets of sims a day. The best part of the league is getting into the play-offs and than off season. Just a thought to speed up the regular season.

Vince I tend to disagree with simming 2 games a day. Reason being is that due to player injuries/fatigues you may want to change your lineup and simming 2 games may be too risky.

double sims are nice when there are only like 4 games played on one day

I prefer the one set per day that we are on now, because: 1) lineup changes between games are easier 2) it gives me an off night once in a while not to worry about the sim 3) it means that it will be easier to keep the league on track (we won't catch up to the NHL in real time as fast)
....not to mention that the Commish has a life outside of the League too.

My vote is always for a single sim system. There is nothing more annoying then watching your roster auto-simmed for the second game after an injury in the first.

I would also prefer to keep the games simmed at once per day as opposed to twice. I have a couple reasons for this.
1. Don't want to start catching up to the NHL because then you get to a point where you pass the NHL seasons and need to start drafting fantasy playres and such. 2. I do my best to post articles after each days simms and don't think I would be able to keep up if we were doing them twice a day, not to mention the time factor what with work and family
I am thinking about having special days like Hockey Day in Canada or Hockey Day in America where we could simm 3 set of games throughout the day. Keep your thoughts and ideas coming everyone.

I agree with the Commish (as if I matter once he's put his foot down [;-)... If you double-time the regular season, you take off a minimum of 2 months, and more likely 3... And that time has to be made up somewhere... Meaning either you run "half-seasons" where you either draft non-existant players because you're bypassing the NHL seasons, or you hold a draft every 2nd year (I'm in a league that does this, and suffice it to say as politely as I can, I'm not in favor of it)... Or else that 2-3 month gap is made up during the offseason. If there are enough "activities" (such as FA / Waivers / Draft) to cover those months, then it's not as bad (but you can't stretch those things out that much either)... And if a league has a non-summer 2 month lull, it is almost fatal in most cases.
And as for Mikes 2nd point, I agree wholehartedly. The effort he puts into the game-to-game results is amongst the best of any league I've seen (no way I do it in my league)... So going double-time makes it almost pointless to put in that effort, as there would be less readership.
One final point is the statement "The best part of the league is getting into the play-offs and than off season"... Which I don't disagree with at all (the offseason is my favorite part of the year, by far)... But if you're a team that gets eliminated quickly, or doesn't even make it, then that's more dead time. So if you add deadtime to deadtime, you end up with dud owners... Just the way it works.
For (Commish) sanity, there NEEDS to be a break between seasons... But the shorter it's kept, and more interactive the offseason, the better for league stability.

PS. I haven't posted in a few months, so I decided to catch up in one post.

it really gets boring also when there is only like 3 or 4 games on the schedule. On days like that you should do double sims becasue if u dont play 2 days in a row you really get bored.

I agree that there should be double sims when there are only 3 games or so. Still prefer 1 game per day in all other cases.

This is a dead issue....it was addressed months ago and the reasons given for the present system are just as valid now.

ya but right here there are two days that have like three or so games in both of them. there isnt a good chance that youll play both days although there are in this case. It just sucks to have 5 total sims in two days.

In the special case where: 1) there are so few games on a given day (say, 1-3 games); and 2) the same team isn't playing back-to-back games
I could see your point....but it doesn't happen that often. It would all depend on how much work the Commish has to do.
Plus, there is the issue of the second set of games bumping the boxscores for the first set, so there would have to be a little bit extra linking to accomodate on those special days (although, I wouldn't mind having an extra days' worth of boxscores linked to the homepage.....something akin to 'Today's Games' and 'Yesterday's Games').

As far as simming two sets of games per day, I'm not really big on the idea for many of the reasons listed above. Not only that, what would be the enjoyment of the league if we simply rush through each season as fast as possible.
I don't however have a problem with simming a couple set of games when the schedule is very, very light. If there are only 2 or 3 games scheduled on consecutive night's then I would be more then willing to sim both day's if a team does not play in back to back games on those nights.
It's kind of cool to see this topic pop up again after being idle for about 8 months. Our new GM's are jumping right in to the mix and I'm glad to see it.
