Really, I don't think Vancouver, Boston, Calgary, Montreal or Minnesota did much to improve themselves.
Atlanta and Columbus are obviously playing for next season now.
Pittsburgh, Dallas and San Jose all improve significantly.
Toronto shows just how screwed they are by not being able to do much of anything.

Dallas performs highway robbery on Tampa.
I also really like Atlanta's deal, couple solid young players with potential and Espo/1st in a deep draft for two guys who were UFA's.

it's odd that brad stuart and hal gill fetched very similar compensation. is stuart really not what he was thought to be or did fletcher just do a good job.

I am a little surprised with the trade of Cristobal Huet. I really hope that Price can handle the pressure of being the go to guy now. I am worried that the Canadians organization is rushing him along a little to quickly.

I think Pitts Did ok might go a few rd in the playoffs!! How did Pittsburgh do OK? Giving up Christensen, Armstrong, Esposito and a 1st for Hossa who will leave when July 1st rolls around and my man Pascal Dupuis. Sure you can say that Christensen didn't live up to expectations, but how can you when you are on the 4th line and not playing with Crosby/Malkin. Heck, playing Christensen with Staal would have been better, but they didn't do that. With the chemsitry that Armstrong had with the limited time playing with Crosby was a big mistake giving him up too. As for Esposito, I hope he lives up to expectations and makes Pittsburgh look like fools for giving up on him so early.

I can't believe the price Pittsburgh paid in order to acquire Hossa. Sure he's a very good player, but also has a knack for disappearing once the playoffs begin. Not only that, but he's a UFA in the summer and I don't think that Pittsburgh can afford to sign him.

i'd have to agree with mike. i think pittsburgh overpaid for hossa. they still don't have a stud goalie so they're still going to lose in the first couple rounds of the playoffs so it seems a little shortsighted to me to trade away that much youth for a rental.
